About

It all started on Facebook earlier this year. I would post links to music in my status before I hit the sheets for the night. One of my friends once commented “What is this? Did I just sign up for Maxdora?”, which was a combination of my name and the popular audio site, Pandora, and it stuck. Usually I’d try to find something in my library that people hadn’t heard of before, just to broaden their musical horizon.

After several weeks of I wonder what people haven’t heard of yet, I started doing themes; strange time signatures, songs from musicals, ’80′s covers, hitting ‘shuffle’ in my library and posting the first thing that comes up, things like that.

At this point it has started to become a bit of a bitch to post the artist, title, link in my post. It’s not that that’s difficult or too many characters, but I’d really like to add my own comments to the musical selection without adding a wall of text under my own Facebook status, thus making it look like I just really enjoy talking to myself.

I’m not a journalist or a writer of any sort, so keep that in mind, but I am a lover of music of all kinds. One of my music professors in college once said “Describing music through words, is like trying to describe architecture through dance.”

I have a rather large music library that consists of genres of all sorts. As a musician, primarily, I appreciate music for the art that it is. I’m always on the looking for new bands to add to my library, so don’t be afraid to mention some to me, I’d love to hear new stuff.

So, without diving too much into indie physics, I thought I’d move Maxdora over to a blog where my commentary and yours are more convenient.

So that’s kind of it in a nutshell. I didn’t really intend for it to end up on it’s own blog, but it’s just easier that way.

So feel free to take a listen to stuff I post, comment on it, or whatever. Or don’t.

Happy listening.

ps- yes, I’ll try to link explanations of internet references you may not be familiar with, so that I don’t look like a total retard.
